“I have no friends in high places!” explained Olga to the people in her neighborhood.
“Then, how will you get the job?” they wondered.
In Olga’s part of the world, friends and personal contacts are important.
People who know the “right” people get the promotions and positions that others yearn for. Olga did not know any of the “right” people; she had no friends in high places as she explained to her neighbors.
As a pharmacist, Olga had a responsible position in the drug store where she worked. Olga wanted to advance in her profession. When an opportunity for a new position opened, Olga applied, knowing that her chances of being accepted were slim. She also knew that the competition for the new position was stiff.
Olga did have two things on her side: her Heavenly Friend to whom she had committed her life some years before, and new computer skills.
When it came time to interview for the new position, Olga knew that her chances were nil. She prayed, asking Jesus for help. During the interview she explained that she had taken computer courses. Upon learning of her computer skills, the director told Olga to quit her present job immediately and begin to work the very next day in the new position!
Olga called this a miracle. The Computer Center in Zaporozhye that our ministry e-DOT had implemented made the impossible possible for her. She would never have had the funds to pay for the quality computer courses that she needed to gain skills for a new position. She would never have been promoted to a new position without those skills.
Classes at the Zaporozhye Computer Center in Ukraine have been offered complimentary to the community for about two years. Many eastern European churches in partnership with our ministry e-DOT have capitalized on an amazing opportunity to be an open door to their community through teaching computer classes in their church. In places where they church is looked at with cynicism and distrust, these open doors are providing avenues for the church to love their neighbors and to introduce our Friend in the highest place.
Pray with the Roes’:
1) Pray for Olga and many like her who are being deeply touched by these Computer centers. It’s wonderful that many are having an opportunity to advance their job capabilities, but far more important, we pray that God will use these in a powerful way to transform lives for Eternity.
2) Please pray with us for the quick sale of our home. This will help tremendously in allowing us to concentrate more on raising our remaining support and less on working to pay bills.
3) We just sent out a large mailing to churches in our area and are praying that many of them would be interested in having us come and share our vision as well as commit to being sending partners. Please pray that these doors would open for us.
4) We continue to work toward moving early next year. This fall is jammed with lots of things to sign up for and get involved with. Pray for protection of our family and for the wisdom to choose not just the good, but the best.
