Archive for December, 2005

Thank you to everyone that prays for us. It is greatly appreciated while we are in this transition. When you pray, please make sure to lift these things up:

  • Pray that our house will sell. We thought it was going to sell but that has fallen through. So the house is again back fully on the market with hopes that someone needs a house in the new year. We are going to stay in my (Courtney’s) parents house since we don’t really want to go through the move plus we sold most of our stuff in the garage sale.
  • Pray that our monthly support will be raised up. We currently have commitments for 60% of our monthly needs but we can’t leave until we are at 100%. Praise God that we have nearly 100% of our outgoing one-time support needed to actually make the move.
  • Pray that we find the time to complete all that needs to be done including one last seminary course for Courtney which is due at the end of January.
  • Pray for our time in late February/March as we will be headed to Colorado for our prefield training. Its exciting as there will be three other people who are joing eDOT that will be there plus a couple that we went through orientation with.

Thank you all!!!!

From Yahoo News! - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051230/ap_on_re_eu/sweden_devil_s_denim

This is not from a Christian news group or even a religiously affiliated news group but from the secular Associated Press. They even note that there is a turn away from Christianity happening in Europe especially Sweden where church attendance is ever decreasing. The designer of the label for this brand of jeans says that he is against Christianity because of the history of wars that have been fought in the name of “Christianity”. He is against the organized religion.

This is why we are called to be missionaries in Europe. We are called to help the church in Europe be not just some organized religion but a group of people who have a relationship with their Creator and want to help other Europeans have that kind of relationship too.

We’ve been redone!!!

I have been reading more and more about “blogs” and their usefullness so I redesigned this website to use a blogging tool called “WordPress”. We hope this will allow this site to be an even more informative place for you to come and find out about us and our ministry.

Thanks for stopping by!!

Merry Christmas!!!!

Way back when I (Courtney) was young, my mother tells of a story about me and three decorative wise men that adorn my parent’s home every year for Christmas. I was about Alex’s age and my mother walked into the room and listened in as I had a deep (well deep for a five year old) conversation with each of the three wise men before they were placed on the mantle. So this year, when Alex and my mother were decorating the house, the same three wise men were pulled out of the box along with a set of Christmas carolers. After my mother left the room and returned, Alex too was having a conversation with the three wise men. Only it was a bit different as apparently the three wise men were beating up the Christmas carolers. My mother immediately asked why the three wise men would be beating up the Christmas carolers to which Alex’s quick response was “Have you heard how they sing?”

As we get into the Christmas spirit, we can look back at this past year and thank God for all the things He has provided for us. He has provided many of you joining our team covering us with prayer and committing to support us on an ongoing basis (we are currently about 60% supported). We have also received about 80% of our one-time outgoing expenses. God has provided projects that has allowed Courtney to work from home. God has provided us a place to stay while our house is on the market (long story, but if you don’t know, we thought our house was going to sell but it hasn’t). God has given us time to strengthen as a family and time to be with friends.

As we look into the next year, we see how God is providing for us to go to Colorado in Feb/March for over 3 weeks for our prefield training. We see how God is helping us to meet more and more people who we didn’t know before but who are interested in our ministry. We can see how God is preparing us, both physically and spiritually, for our move “over the big pond”.

We ask that you please continue to prayer for:

  • Pray that God will provide some more churches and individuals who would wish to partner with us. We have to have 100% of our monthly expenses committed before we can make the move which we hope could be after we return from Colorado in late March
  • Pray that our house would sell. We have already moved into Courtney’s parents’ house because we had a buyer but he has had problems selling his own house. We are giving him one last chance, but if he isn’t able to close before Christmas, then we are going to put the house back fully on the market with hopes that we would get a buyer with the new year traffic.
  • Pray that we would have time to meet with people and still get the work done that we need to like Courtney’s freelance work and school work.

Thank you for your prayers,

Krista, Courtney and Alex
