Pope Benedict XVIFrom yahoo.com –> Is God Dead in Europe?

If you wonder why Krista and I are called to go to Europe, please read this article. In this article produced by a secular news agency (but written by an American Catholic), its says that only 19% of Czech Republic citizens believe that God exists - let alone believe in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

During the formation of the European Union constitution, there was great debate over any mentioning of the Christian heritage of Europe as it might offend non-Christian Europeans. The former French president Valery Giscard d’Estaing, who presided over the process, summed up the dominant view: “Europeans live in a purely secular political system, where religion does not play an important role.”

Europe is decidedly post-Christian. Most in Europe have not heard the real reason Jesus Christ came to earth- to save us from ourselves so that we may have a relationship with God. Instead, they view Jesus Christ as a swindling tool or a reason for unjust wars.

Please pray for those in Europe that they may come to a true understanding of Jesus Christ. Please pray for those who are Christians in Europe that they may speak to their neighbors out of true love about Jesus Christ. Pray for those that are missionaries over there and those that are going (like us) that we can be a light in a spiritually dark continent.
