Going House Hunting

Nov 23, 2006   //   by Courtney   //   Prayer Requests, Roes Updates  //  No Comments

Tomorrow I leave for Germany to go house hunting. Please pray:

  • For Krista and Alex as they will be staying home trusting my judgement.
  • For me as I am struggling with a cold and will be traveling for about 18 hours
  • For our team as they help me, house me and take care of me during this next week

Thanks so much. I hope to update the site next week while in Germany.

Roes Invitation – Mark Your Calendars

Max and Erma's FundraiserDear Friends and Family,

A few times in these past two years when the task seemed so overwhelming we’ve had wise encouragers come along side us and assure us that when God said it was time we would watch the mountains move. I’m humbled to stand here to day and say… They’re moving! They’re moving! What God has done this last week is incredible. We’re at 91% and increasing almost daily.

Our hearts are so grateful! A generous supporter provided frequent flyer miles to allow Courtney to travel to Germany this Friday, November 24 for about a week to look for apartments. Please pray that this will be an excellent trip and that we will be able to find an inexpensive apartment with the things we need. This will make our transition in January much easier.

For those of you in the Charlotte/Huntersville area come join us on December 4. The restaurant Max and Erma’s at Exit 25 is providing a fundraiser for us. With the attached ticket, 20% of your lunch or dinner purchases will go directly into our Greater Europe Mission fund. You must give the ticket to your server for them to be able to credit it to our account. Photocopies and printouts are fine. The ticket is attached to this e-mail in PDF format or you can pick up tickets at our table at Lake Forest any Sunday between now and then. (Download the PDF here)

Again, thank the Lord with us for the greatness of His timing.

All our love,

Courtney and Krista Roes

For all of you who can’t get enough of Alex, here is a little practice of a song he is going to be singing at his school’s Thanksgiving celebration.

Happy Dance

Nov 14, 2006   //   by Courtney   //   Humor, Personal Life  //  3 Comments

Well, I told a lot of people that when we passed 80% in our support raising that I would do a happy dance. Everything that has happened this week has helped us surpass 80% and we are now just under 90% (which is the point where we get to buy plane tickets).

So for all of you out there that like to see me make a fool of myself (sometimes without even trying), here it is:

The Happy Dance

If you would like to be a part of our support team, please see the link in the top left called “How to Give” or contact us and we would love to meet with you. Just email us at Courtney@Roesgarden.com.

Roes Update – You Won’t Believe It!!

Nov 13, 2006   //   by Courtney   //   eDOT Related, Personal Life, Prayer Requests, Roes Updates  //  No Comments

Celebrate with us what the Lord has done!

We’ve gone from 82% to 88.7% …. Just 11.3% left to go! The churches’ benefit concert was an amazing success with over 300 in attendance and with much generosity. That means we only need $873 in monthly pledges to go and …literally $100 in monthly commitments to purchase our plane tickets!

WOW!

We are so thankful for those of you who have responded to God’s call to be a part of our team through your prayers and regular giving. And for those of you who reading this right now feel God’s prompting to get on board. Come be a part of what God is doing in Europe!

We firmly believe we are near the completion of our 100% requirement and our goal is to leave right after Christmas… Courtney wants to leave on his birthday – December 28!

We know that some of you prefer giving toward specific projects(tax deductible through Greater Europe Mission):

  • 2 weeks of German Kindergarten for Alex -$35 (we have to pay since we won’t pay German taxes)
  • Alex’s school application cost for next year is $100
  • Winter tires for our car in Germany (we’ll be moving in January)-$200
  • Our airfare to Germany – about $800 for each of us
  • 6 months of German language school – $3000
  • Watching God work in European’s lives – priceless!

We’re so excited!

Just a reminder to come to our concert this Saturday Night

Donations at the concert will go to support us and our ministry in Europe. Please come out.

Do you suffer from IA (Internet Additction)?

Nov 3, 2006   //   by Courtney   //   eDOT Related, Humor  //  No Comments

Net AddictionI found yet another poll for you to take and see how addicted to the Internet you are. Just take the Internet Addiction Test (IAT) at netaddiction.com

In reality, this can be a very serious situation especially for those that are addicted to some of the “darker” things on the Internet. But I heard it once said:

The Internet is used for illicit things. But we have to realize that in most of the world, “Jesus Christ” is an illicit search term.

God has ordained the Internet to be used for His purposes and that is what eDOT is about. There are millions and millions of people on the Internet (in Europe and around the world). They are socializing, conducting business, researching, and asking questions. We can not ignore those who live in this “other” world. That is our calling. God bless.
