PrayEurope 40-40-40 — Czech Republic
Czech Republic was the scene many years ago when a priest stood up declaring certain practices as against Scripture. He was then convicted of heresy and burned at the stake. He was a bold follower of Christ. Now only 59% of the population won’t even stand up to affiliate themselves with a religious group (probably because many don’t want anything to do with religion which I understand) but only 1.1% would say that they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Dear God,
I pray today for the Czech Republic whose history is rich with people who stood up to protect what You had declared sacred. I pray for the people of Czech Republic to once again return to knowing You and want to declare themselves a part of Your family. I pray that they will come to an understanding that following You and being in a relationship with You is not equal to religion – that its so much more. I pray that You will strengthen Your followers there so that they can share what You have done in their lives with others. Amen.

PrayEurope 40-40-40 — Cyprus
Cyprus – brings images of the beautiful sea surrounding a beautiful island. It’s talked about in the New Testament but many that live there now don’t know their Christian heritage. Ironically, many Christians and non-Christians do the same things “just because its cultural.”
Dear Father,
We lift up Cyprus to You today and thank You for those that do know You personally there. We’re thankful that they can read in Scripture about how the Gospel first came to their land however we pray that they will separate the traditions of religion that is now engrained in the culture from the personal relationship that can have with You through your Son, Jesus Christ. I pray for the followers of Christ that they may be bold in sharing how You have changed their lives. I pray for the disunity that is within Cyprus between the Greek south and the Turkish north that the years of strife can be peaceful but we know this can only happen with Your intervention. Amen.

PrayEurope 40-40-40 — Croatia
Croatia was another one of the countries ripped apart by war in the 1990′s but has since gone through major reconciliation as peace treaties have been signed, refugees have returned, and there’s some since of national unity. Now we look to the people of Croatia being reconciled with their Heavenly Father through His Son, Jesus Christ.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We are so thankful that you wanted to be with us so much that You provided the Way (it’s not by our works but by Your doing) for us to be able to be in Your presence again by offering Your Son up as a payment for our disobedience. I pray for the many people of Croatia who don’t know You personally will in this time of reconciliation see that they have a need and that You are the One that fills that need. I pray for those that know You that they will reach out to their neighbors and share their experiences in knowing you as Daddy. Amen.

PrayEurope 40-40-40 — Bulgaria
Bulgaria is a nation located between Romania and Turkey. Under communism, Christianity was persecuted and since the fall, freedom of religion was the law but extreme favor was given to Orthodoxy. Bulgaria is the major thoroughfare that many of the Turkish immigrants to Europe go back and forth from their homes and seeing their families.
Dear God,
I pray that the hearts of Bulgarians will be opened to hearing Your life changing news. I pray for those working in Bulgaria to share how You’ve changed their lives that they will be bold and will find the people You want them to speak to. I pray unity among the various groups of Christians so that energy isn’t wasted but that more can hear about Your love. I pray that more people would have a heart for the people of Bulgaria and want to participate in what You are doing there. Amen.

PrayEurope 40-40-40 — Bosnia-Herzegovina
Bosnia-Herzegovina is about the size of West Virginia for my North American friends and has about 4.5 million people. It is still recovering from the wars in the 1990′s and majority of the population would say they are Muslim.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I pray today for Bosnia-Herzegovina where many people died and even though the war is over, true peace has not come to the people that live there. I pray that You would rise up signs of Your power as Christians share their experience in following You so that they can see that You are the One True God. I pray that those still hurting from the war would find healing (both physically, emotionally, and spiritually) in knowing You. I pray that all there would find their hope in You. Amen.

PrayEurope 40-40-40 — Belgium
Today we pray for Belgium. Belgium is nestled in between the Netherlands and France. One of several places that I haven’t had the opportunity to visit (yet).
Dear God,
We pray for those living in Belgium that they might have a desire to come to know you – especially the younger generation who doesn’t see their need. Lord, we pray for strength for those that are sharing their faith with others that You will give them stamina and perseverance. Please give them favor with the government. Amen.
